Synology DSM cannot find IP troubleshooting guide

This is not a simple driver issue. If there is a problem such as the IP cannot be found during the installation process, it is recommended that you unplug the extra hard drive as much as possible, because a forced restart may damage the hard drive, so please do not directly cut off the power with a hard drive worth tens of thousands of dollars.

1. Before installing the system:

1.Multiple routers/optical modems connected in series

Case 1: Optical modem dial-up, the router WAN port is connected to the optical modem. The NAS is connected to the LAN port of the router, and the computer is connected to the optical modem or connected to the optical modem’s wireless WIFI. (This may search for the IP but cannot access it)

Case 2: Optical modem dial-up, the router WAN port is connected to the optical modem NAS is connected to the optical modem LAN port, and the computer is connected to the router’s LAN or wireless WIFI. (This may search for the IP but cannot access it)

Case 3: Multiple routers connected in WAN, this is the same as the above case.

Case 4: There are multiple DHCPs in the intranet, which is reflected in the fact that the IP is obtained through search but cannot be accessed or the IP cannot be directly searched.

Solution 1: As long as you turn off the DHCP server of the secondary router and then use the LAN interconnection router (optical modem) without using WAN to connect to the upper-level router, you can solve the problem of different network segments.

Solution 2: The computer (other devices using NAS) and NAS are connected to the same router (used under optical modem).

2.The single-router (router dial-up) NAS is also connected to the router. The computer is connected to WiFi for installation. The fire protection is also turned off and cannot be searched for.

Solution: Check whether the router has turned on the guest WiFi and whether the computer is connected to the guest WiFi SSID. If so, please connect to a normal WiFi SSID or use a wired connection (the guest network uses VLAN technology to isolate intranet devices for security and cannot access other devices on the LAN)

3.The virtual machine installed the virtual network card and selected the correct one and started it normally. Even if the virtual machine is exported in place on this machine and then imported, it will not work.

Solution: Pay attention to whether the virtual machine network card is bound to a NATed virtual switch or network segment.

4.There are multiple NAS installed on the intranet, but the new NAS cannot be found when searching.

Solution: Maybe the SN codes and MACs of your two NAS conflict, and Synology Assistant doesn’t know which one should be displayed, and it’s possible that the MAC addresses are also directly blocked by the router. Please use different SN codes for multiple machines, otherwise there will be messy problems even if it can be installed.

5.The IP cannot be found due to the router binding MAC or firewall.

Solution: Try turning off router MAC binding and firewall

6.RRThe IP can be searched in the compilation menu and when the computer is just turned on, but when it comes to the search and installation steps, the IP cannot be searched.

Solution: There is a high probability that the kernel has crashed. You can try changing to another model.

7.Physics Synology does not support 9th generation or above Gigabyte and MSI motherboards

Solution: You can only replace the motherboard or set up a virtual machine

8.It works fine when only one or two hard disks are plugged in. If there are more than two hard disks, the IP cannot be searched.

Solution: There is a high probability that there is a problem with the hard disk. Try replacing the hard disk.

9.The low-power CPU of the J3455 series is likely to be stuck for a long time on startup or unable to softly shut down, etc.

Solution: You can passhttps://cloud.ainas.cc/4772.htmlTutorial solved. If you do not operate it, the SMB performance will be low, the startup will be very slow and may take about 10 minutes, the restart of the installation process may take more than half an hour to complete the installation, and there is a high probability that soft shutdown will not be possible.

10.I installed it on other machines before, but when I changed the machine, I couldn’t find the IP address.

Solution: Check your network card model to see if it is too popular. Maybe your network card and hardware are incompatible. You can refer to this to reselect the hardware.

2. After installing the system:

1.Accidentally upgraded the system

Solution: Update the RR boot to the latest version, enter the boot compilation menu, enter advanced, and try to restore the system with DSM installed.

2.Changes in the network environment, such as: adding a router, adding a switch, adding an AP, replacing a modem, fixing the IP of the NAS, the network segment of the new router is different, route binding or defense mechanism causes Synology IP to be blocked

Solution: Try to restore the original network environment to eliminate the problem

3.The boot sequence changed and it jumped to another hard disk to start.

Solution: Re-enter the BIOS to set the boot order

4.Hardware failure
